Kosovo: 900 persons in bike ride for cultural heritage

On September 22 Tour de Culture was organized for the sixth consecutive year, an activity which has already turned into a traditional one.

The START at Bika’s Mill, Ferizaj/Uroševac, Kosovo

Approximately 900 participants promoted the natural and cultural heritage, non-motorized transport and environmental protection.
Tour de Culture is the only non-competitive cycling and recreational activity in Kosovo open to all.
Tour de Culture is an initiative of the Swedish foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB) and the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Program (MuSPP) of UN-Habitat, both funded by Sweden. This is a unique activity in Kosovo and consists of synergies coming from the principles of the European Heritage Days (EHD), European Mobility Week (JEM) and the relevant programs of CHwB and UN-Habitat.

Photographic exhibition of Tour de Culture 2008-2012

This year, for the first time, was organized a photographic exhibition of the first 5 years of Tour de Culture. The exhibition was publicly exposed for one week, prior to the activity, on the main square in Prishtina/Priština, Mother Theresa Square. Participants of Tour de Culture had also an opportunity to see the same exhibition at the START, on the day of the activity.

The start of this year’s Tour de Culture was Ferizaj/Uroševac, respectively Nica’s Mill, to Nerodime bifurcation, both monuments of Kosovo cultural and natural heritage.
After departure, participants continued to city center of Ferizaj, where they had the opportunity to see the protected monuments.
After a short stop, where participants rested while having fruits, vegetables and refreshments, tour continued along the river Lepenc/Lepenac to Kaçanik/Kačanik.
